A roof top terrace in a city
What will you do with a roof top terrace? Considering the region’s climate and weather condition, we did not hire professional garden planners but simply purchased a series of Buddhist Pine from a florist market and installed Southern pine flooring to create a city oasis image. It serves as perfect escape from the crowds, heat, traffic and chaos of the city below. You can overlook the street or enjoy sipping a glass of wine as you watch the sunset or gaze the stars above. The transparent shield is rain-proof, you can indulge yourself with a nice good cup of coffee and a great book in this tranquil area even when it rains.
Tactics: When inspecting the construction site, I’ve decided to make a glass window wall to play with the light and keep good ventilation without damaging the original structure. A hidden roll-up door is installed as an external skin to avoid bad weather or burglars. When closed, it appears as a lock-down shelter.
In Taiwan, both master and guest bathrooms are about 7-8 square meters. Though tiny, it’s surely not negligible. When designing, tile pattern was the first thing to decide. Simplicity is the key word for a compact space. A white door slides open from the bedroom into an en-suite bathroom with large mirror, gray counter and white sinks. Purely poetic when keep it simple.
